The coalition of unions representing over 60,000 public school employees, which includes AFT Connecticut, is organizing this coordinated day of action to bring attention to health and safety lapses.

Since returning from the winter break to a rampant spread of COVID-19, union members have been speaking out about shared concerns that put students and staff at risk.

Members are encouraged to wear black to work and take pictures with their colleagues to share on social media with the hashtag #Blackout4SafeSchools.

The purpose is to raise public awareness that our schools are not safe enough and that more must be done to protect the health of students and staff.
